Sing it with me... "Y.M.C.A."

We got memberships to the YMCA in Bremerton, but we had heard about the Silverdale YMCA and the pool and we wanted to go check it out.  So we idd.  The pool is really nice.  There is a slide, a lazy river, I think there is a diving board - and then there is a separate area for swimming lessons and such.  I believe the one half the pool is always own and the other side is where it's more structured.

Nathan and Kaedyn like the water, but they are also terrified at bigger pools.  So it took them a little bit and some coxing to get out in the water.

We were really impressed with the Silverdale YMCA ...  and we are (currently) planning to get another membership.  YAY!!  Looking forward to this...

J.A. & Anna F. Smith Park is located on the end of Fairgrounds Road going towards Silverdale.  So at the intersection of Tracyton Boulevard and Fairgrounds Road.

It features a Master Gardeners Demonstration Garden with butterfly gardens, lots of grassy space, a green house, picnic tables, salt water fishing, 200-foot stretch of beach, and trails.

There are public park restrooms but they are closed annually during the winter season from October 1 to March 31.

So once upon a time... there was this almost almost 3 year old little boy.  He saw this pond and something must have caught his attention because .... he tried to walk on water ...  he literally took a step off into the water ... like he was taking a step off a curb to go on a crosswalk ...  we'll just say, it didn't end well....

I kept making the joke that he thought he was Jesus and could walk on water!!

... this is how not well it ended....  he was SOPPING wet and had gotten scared.  (Daddy had rescued him.) ... and his shirt, very fitting.  "Major Trouble" ... .

Going to the Beach

Living in Washington, you are surrounded by salt water (Pacific Ocean water) ...  We went to Island Lake Beach

Island Lake is a fresh water (not salt water) beach with fishing for Rainbow Trout and Large Mouth Bass.

You can rent the the community center there for a party or event.

Park Features: Lake access, swimming area, fishing pier, walking trails, picnic areas, picnic shelter, playground, restrooms, community center, parking lots and life jacket kiosks. Park restrooms open April 1st-September 30th.

The sand was really hot that day...  little toddlers don't like burning feet! LOL

Taking the boys out to the water ...  this is there first time at water like this ...  well, Nathan was at the river in Eau Claire when he was real little... so I should say this is the first time of them at this fun age...

We decided to make a sand castle ...  don't judge...  we're not good... LOL....

The beach was a very welcome reprieve from the heat....it doesn't get hot in Washington, not in our area anyway, but for maybe a week or two during the summer.  There really is no more than a month of hot weather.  And it doesn't "rain all the time" like people say or think.  During the winter, yeah.  During the summer, nah.

The little boys didn't venture too far in the water... and I'm not a fan of fish nibbling my toes...  but I did swim out a bit when the boys were being watched by their dad and/or their Nana (my mom).  DB swam more than I did though.

It was a lot of fun, it was also very crowded on a hot day, which is to be expected.
