Harborside Fountain Park is in downtown Bremerton.  The location is right between the ferry terminal and the side of the Bremerton Navy Shipyard.   You get to it by walking along the side of the Puget Sound Navy Museum between the museum and the shipyard.

It is a great way to escape the heat of summer.  The water around the fountains is just a couple inches deep and the fountains provide a great surprise and rush of water ...  they are very beautiful to watch also.

We went ... meeting our Early Head Start teacher (Carmen) there.  This is the first time we were down there and it was really good fun once the little boys got used to it.  But it was all of us except Calahan - he didn't want to go.  It was DB, Noah, Nathan, Kaedyn, my cousin Ashley, and I.

When you have an almost-2-year-old who is afraid of his own shadow, yeah ... he might look at the fountains that magically erupt water like they are the devil .... at the very least, they are demons with bad bad bad intentions..... He was playing all nice and all of a sudden water shot up and scared the bajezzus out of him...

This is Noah leaning up against the fountain while it exploded (in the green swim trunks) Ashley is in the corner, in the pink shirt, pointing up at the fountain.

Nathan is sitting in his "safe spot" laughing at the exploding fountains.  He's not ready at first to get in the water... so he's sitting there watching intently.

Carmen holding Kaedyn, trying to encourage Nathan, and Noah is in  the background.  (In the background, you can see where the ferry docks, right beside the park.

Noah waiting for the fountain to explode.  He really did have fun and enjoy it a lot on this day.

Exploded!

Ashley is trying to encourage the boys to at least come and sit on the side and put their feet in the water, I'm standing in the water... .

Okay - that's not so bad!

Mr. Noah

Nathan (AKA Tator)

Kaedyn (aka Bubba)

Noah loved it...

Nathan sitting on Daddy's lap, Bubba, and Ashley ...  (in the background Carmen is talking to some of the other kids she works with, and getting snacks out.

Bubba went over to get watermelon - his FAVORITE

Nathan is getting very cold and you can tell.  He doesn't do well maintaining his body temperature.

Sitting in the sun to see if that helps...

One last run of bravery into the water ... .

Okay Mom,  I'm cold...   so I sat him on my lap and wrapped him up in his towel ...

 I don't remember what he's eating there...  I *think* it's a sandwich ...

Noah was waiting for it to explode, and then decided it was going to be awhile, so he came running in to get a snack, and then it exploded ....  (Nathan is off to the side, with his feet in the water sitting on the side again)

And he ran back! LOL

Daddy holding Bubba, Noah infront of them (not that's not Nathan sideways)

Kaedyn was not happy that the fountain exploded on him...

We packed up after this and started walking up to the car.  There is a fountain park in front of the Puget Sound Navy Museum, along the side of the road where the cars go in to pay to get on the ferry, there is a bit of a memorial park with lots of really pretty fountains.

The Harborside Fountains are GREAT!!  They are really crowded on hot days, but it's worth going.   It's a lot of fun.

THIS IS SOMETHING WE WOULD RECOMMEND AND WE WOULD DEFINITELY GO HERE AGAIN (and we do).

This graphic fell off the back of Google into my lap..

Living in Washington, you are surrounded by salt water (Pacific Ocean water) ...  We went to Island Lake Beach

Island Lake is a fresh water (not salt water) beach with fishing for Rainbow Trout and Large Mouth Bass.

You can rent the the community center there for a party or event.

Park Features: Lake access, swimming area, fishing pier, walking trails, picnic areas, picnic shelter, playground, restrooms, community center, parking lots and life jacket kiosks. Park restrooms open April 1st-September 30th.

Screen capture off Google ^^^

The sand was really hot that day...  little toddlers don't like burning feet! LOL

This dragonfly came and landed on me....

Nathan - who doesn't like being dirty - was very out of his element ...

Calahan (with his hand up) and Noah (with the yellow floatie) out in the water...

Kaedyn waving to his brothers ...I can just hear it "Come on Kaedyn!  Come in the water,,,"  Kaedyn is saying ... "Nope I'm good!"

Taking the boys out to the water ...  this is there first time at water like this ...  well, Nathan was at the river in Eau Claire when he was real little... so I should say this is the first time of them at this fun age...

We decided to make a sand castle ...  don't judge...  we're not good... LOL....

The beach was a very welcome reprieve from the heat....it doesn't get hot in Washington, not in our area anyway, but for maybe a week or two during the summer.  There really is no more than a month of hot weather.  And it doesn't "rain all the time" like people say or think.  During the winter, yeah.  During the summer, nah.

The little boys didn't venture too far in the water... and I'm not a fan of fish nibbling my toes...  but I did swim out a bit when the boys were being watched by their dad and/or their Nana (my mom).  DB swam more than I did though.

It was a lot of fun, it was also very crowded on a hot day, which is to be expected.

THIS IS SOMETHING WE WOULD RECOMMEND AND WE WOULD DEFINITELY GO HERE AGAIN

Swiped from Google, I take no credit.

Nana worked in Poulsbo for awhile at the newspaper until the office moved to a different area.  Sometimes we'd have to go and pick her up.  Sometimes we had time to kill.  So this particular day in August - we went to the library there to check it out.   Their children's area wasn't as big as ... say...  Bremerton's (which is the only other library in the area I've been to.) ..  but.... they had these adorable statues and things out around the library ...

So we went and played a little bit to pass some time.  It's a super cute library!

There are great events held at the area libraries all the time.  Not only do they have "Baby Storytime,"  "Toddler Storytime," "Pajama Storytime," and "Family Storytime" ... there is also "Young Writers Club," various STEM classes, Lego Club, "R.E.A.D. to a Dog," Genealogy Classes, Teen Games & Gaming clubs, Art Walks, I have even seen Chess Club for all levels, and Anime Club.  So it varies. But there are all kinds of amazing things to do ... and it's not just about checking out books (cuz I get too attached to books, I keep them all! LOL!)  You can check out the CALENDER OF EVENTS for something you might like to join!

Are you local?  Be sure to check it out!!
